摘要:

We are interested in the role of protein quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in health and disease, with a special focus on ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD). In this seminar, Dr. Qi will talk about the exciting journey how he and his team has delineated the importance of ERAD in mammals, first in mice and now in humans. 

 

报告人简介:

 

Dr. Qi (齐岭)received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the Fudan University, China in 1997 and his Ph.D. in Immunology with Dr. Suzanne Ostrand-Rosenberg from the University of Maryland in 2001. He was a postdoc fellow at Johns Hopkins University Medical School with Dr. Carol Greider (2001-2004) and then at the Salk Institute with Dr. Marc Montminy (2004-2007) prior to joining the faculty of Cornell University in 2007 as an assistant professor.  In 2013, he was promoted to associate professor with tenure. In 2016, he was recruited to the University of Michigan Medical School. In the summer of 2023, he will relocate to Charlottesville where he will take on the role as the Chair of Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at University of Virginia. Using a combination of knockout mouse and cell models, his laboratory has uncovered the (patho)physiological importance of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) in health and disease. He was the President of Chinese American Diabetes Association, Chair of various NIH study sections and Chair of Biomedical Council at University of Michigan Medical School. He received the Scientific Achievement Award from Chinese American Diabetes Association, Career Development and Junior Faculty Awards from American Diabetes Association, and Bio-Serv Award from the American Nutrition Society. He was elected as the Fellow for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2021.
