On May 28, 2018, from 13:30 to 16:15, the Borad Meeting of Tsinghua IDG/McGovern Institute was successfully held in Medical Science Building B215. Mrs. McGovern, Dr. Robert Desimone (Director of MIT McGovern Institute), Mr. Hogo Shong (Global Chairman of IDG Capital), Mr. Li Bing (Vice Director of Tsinghua University Education Foundation), Mr.Deng Ning (Vice Director of Office of Scientific R&D, Tsinghua University), Shi Yigong (Dean of Institute of Biomedicine,Tsinghua University) and Dong Chen (Dean of School of Medicine, Tsinghua University) attended the meeting.
On July 14, 2017, the 5th McG/CLS Summer School on Neurological and Cognitive Sciences was officially opened in Tsinghua University. A total of 96 undergraduates from major universities in China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas universities will conduct 7-day systematic learning of neuroscience and cognitive science in Tsinghua University and Peking University. The curriculum modules cover nerve circuits, synapses, sensation, learning and memory, neurological diseases, psychological awareness, etc.
On May, 24th, Mrs. McGovern and the participants to the board meeting of IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua University (Tsinghua McGovern) held a special ceremony in front of the Tree Dedicated to Mr. McGovern who generously supported Tsinghua to build the Brain Institute. They paid a tribute to Mr. McGovern for his great support in developing the neuroscience research in Tsinghua and in China.
A delegation from the US National Science Foundation (NSF) Panel visited the Center for BioMedical Imaging Research (CBIR), School of Medicine, Tsinghua University on April 1st.
On March 17, 2014, Mr. YIN Li, the Vice Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) and Vice Minister of the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) visited Tsinghua IDG/McGovern Brain Institute.
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Mr. Patrick McGovern, on March 19, 2014. Since the founding of the IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua, he has been a great source of inspiration and encouragement. He will be greatly missed. We will carry on his spirit and dedicate our every effort into studying how the brain works and discovering new ways to prevent or treat brain disorders in China for the world.
The opening ceremony of IDG-McGovern Institute of Brain Research at Tsinghua was started on November 24, 2013 inside the Zheng Yutong Medical Science Building of Tsinghua.
On April 22, International Data Group signed an agreement with Tsinghua University, according to which IDG will make a commitment of 10million dollars for establishing IDG/Mcgovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua University.
